Yes, booze. And limes. But I’m not drinking, I’m baking this cake to take along with me to this, the Clandestine Cake Club which is tomorrow. I’m not a particularly proficient baker of cakes, but I do enjoy it which I guess is half the battle! This months theme is Retox, so the boozier the better. I think this fits the bill.

Yes, I know, it’s strictly two photos but the two go hand in hand. The top is the charcoal burner in Heligan’s Lost Valley and the lower image is a detail from a charcoal sculpture, also in the Lost Valley by Cornish artist James Eddy. You can read more about it on their website. It made for a lovely Sunday morning, roaming the woods & listening to birds sing.

A muddy walk in the woods . The wind howled, shifting the clouds across the sky, the sun appeared from time to time revealing long shadows. Not much in the way of colour with the exception of a berry and a leaf!
